JAN 27th 09 : YOSHIKI Interview from FLASH magazine
- YOSHIKI was amazed that the band pulled off the amazing performance considering he, pata and Sugizo were all sick with bad colds - YOSHIKI took vitamin injections to get him through the concert - He was so happy and surprised that all the fans sang in Japanese and did the X Jump, he felt as though the language was 'universal' - YOSHIKI feels that the band is starting to take shape and make progress - X JAPAN are preparing an album set for Japan, with a release planned for this Spring - The overseas version will be released later on as part of X JAPAN's all out world debut - About the new song: At the time of the interview the band was ready to record Toshi's vocal tracks - The drum solo was cut from the 2nd day of the HK show setlist..but Toshi made Yoshiki play by mistake by screaming 'on drums Yoshiki!'..Yoshiki told him to stop, but Toshi thought that Yoshiki was joking around.... so he ended up doing the solo on the 2nd day. - Yoshiki said the drum dive at the end, was to show fans his thanks, and to show that he would put his life on the line for them. Its his way of showing his appreciation, despite getting bruising and scaring. He commented that he will have to have someone put a sign saying 'no drum dives allowed!' on his drum kit for new time. - Yoshiki donated part of the money from the HK shows to charity (a can't remember the amount but it was a lot) - Yoshiki is setting up 'Yoshiki charity' in order to help the prevention of suicide (due to his father's suicide Yoshiki has always felt strongly against suicide as he says it is hell for the families and friends who are left behind. He carries the pain of his father's suicide with him everyday of his life.
The Bannana Incident explained:
YOSHIKI's Hong Kong hotel suite had been newly renovated. No one had used it before. However, upon arrival it smelt terrible and the hot water in the shower didn't work. YOSHIKI first ordered someone to spray the room, but the smell of the spray became unbearable. He then changed rooms, but the new room smelt horrible also. After all that, he ordered a bannana from room service because his pre-concert diet involves what's known as 'carbohydrate loading' (where you take in as much carboyhdrates as you can to give the body an explosion of energy)..but the hotel staff said that they do not have bannanas, and can only provide only apples.
The hotel did not even attempt to try and buy some bannanas, and since the room was costing over $5000 US, YOSHIKI got fed up and moved to a different hotel.
This incident will probably become like the infamous and overly used Curry incident.. but at least you know that YOSHIKI wasn't being unreasonable. The hotel should have responded to the requests at the price he was paying.
